it's been awhile since we've done this. thanks for visiting my website.

i closed my website in 2023 because hosting was expensive and i felt like i no longer needed much of a presence outside of social media. but like so many of you, i have become disenchanted and fatigued by the era of social media consolidation, especially in the era of big tech's unevenly enforced moderation and shoulder-rubbing with fascists.

i longed for the bygone days when we all had rough-and-ready geocities websites about our niche interests. and it looks like i wasn't the only one.

i've only found out about the "indie web" somewhat recently, and although excited by its grassroots enthusiasm, i've discovered i'm woefully out of practice. i last coded a website when i was in high school, which feels like several lifetimes ago.

this place is somewhere between a personal website and an archive of my work. i didn't love the sleek UI'd/tightly controlled confines of the major website building tools you often hear in podcast ads, so i thought if i made something a little more home-grown i'd be inclined to use it a bit more.
